How to Use Block Defaults
What are Block Defaults?
Block Defaults allows you to change how Stackable blocks look like when they’re added in the editor. With this feature, you have the ability to fully style any block, and even add advanced features such as animations, and all the styles will be used when you add a new block.
Note that only newly added blocks are affected, so blocks that are already used in other parts of of your site will not be affected if you change the block defaults.
How to Change Block Defaults
If you want to change your default block styles, you can do so by following these steps:
- Click the Stackable Settings panel which can be found on the top right of the page (the Stackable icon)
- Open the Block Defaults panel
Note that in the Block Defaults panel, the blocks that have an existing saved default style will be bolded. You can click the reset button to delete the saved default block. Click on the pencil icon on the right of each block
- An Editor will open where you can edit the Block Default state
- Update the Editor to save the Block Default
When you go back to your editor, the default block style that you saved will be used whenever you add that block.
2nd Method of Saving Default Block Styles
Another way to save default block styles is through the block’s toolbar.
After designing a block, select it and click on the 3-dot button in the toolbar to open more options. Click on the Save as Default Block button.
If later on you want to change it, there is also a Reset Default Block button in the toolbar.
Block Defaults in Wireframes
Block Defaults will also be used when you insert Wireframes.
In this example, we saved a default style for the Button block, and upon adding a Wireframe which consists of the Button block, you will see that the default style is inherited in the Wireframe.
